And then on the other hand, it's still blowing a gale outside. The whirlwind that was the last two and a half months has settled in Wellington - my new home town for eight weeks. Unpacking the suitcase in the knowledge that I don't have to re-pack it again in a day or so is a welcome novelty, as is a bed I can call my own. As many fantastic people you meet staying in the world's hostels, there is a flip-side. You do get some absolutely champion snorers. You know the ones. They actually snore so loudly that you almost want to stand in the room and give them a rapturous round of applause for their efforts. They won't be missed at all. So what about Welly? Well it's mighty breezy for a start. The wind comes in with a funneling effect through the Cook Straight, and though you may not feel it at ground level, get just 100m higher and you get blown off your feet. So it was last Friday that I moved into my house here - quite a time ago now I guess. I'm living in a large six bedroom student house in the suburb of Newtown.
